I grew up in Sussex, surrounded by beautiful countryside well suited to vines, and in 2021 that setting finally got the better of me. Three children, a full-on job, and a great deal of English sparkling wine later, I am publishing this book.

While starting a vineyard was not for me, my fascination led me to discover an industry full of intriguing, surprising, and often delightful stories. This book is a celebration of these facts, fables, follies which have shaped the rise of English sparkling wine.
